Consultation Process
The Health Sciences Library is in the process of hiring an Indigenous librarian who will support the development of an Indigenous health collection. Once in place, this individual will liaise closely with Indigenous faculty and students on campus to build a robust and responsive collection. Our normal process when we receive resource requests is to purchased an item when it has been submitted by an Indigenous members of the community. Requests received from non-indigenous persons will require consultation before purchase, and this will occur with our Indigenous librarian or another member of the Indigenous community.
As we move forward in developing both the Black health collection and the Indigenous health collection we welcome your feedback and recommendations, particularly if you identify as Black or Indigenous.

Inequalities in Health by
From birth to old age those at the bottom of the social scale have much poorer health and quality of life than those at the top. Gender, area of residence and ethnic origin also have a deep impact. When the Black Report first revealed these tragic inequalities and made urgent recommendations for change, the British Medical Journal, and many others, regarded it as the most important medical report since World War II. It's findings however, were dismissed by the incoming government, which tried unsuccessfully to bury it. Despite this it had, and continues to have, a profound influence on the medical and academic worlds. This book examines the inequalities that exist in the British Health system.

Regimes of Inequality by
Since the 1990s, mainstream political parties have failed to address the problem of growing inequality, resulting in political backlash and the transformation of European party systems. Most attempts to explain the rise of inequality in political science take a far too narrow approach, considering only economic inequality and failing to recognize how multiple manifestations of inequality combine to reinforce each other and the underlying political features of advanced welfare states. Uncertain Suffering by

Structures of Indifference by
Structures of Indifference examines an Indigenous life and death in a Canadian city and what it reveals about the ongoing history of colonialism. In September 2008, Brian Sinclair, a middle-aged, non-Status Anishinaabe resident of Winnipeg, arrived in the emergency room of a major downtown hospital. Over a thirty-four- hour period, he was left untreated and unattended to, and ultimately died from an easily treatable infection.McCallum and Perry present the ways in which Sinclair, once erased and ignored, came to represent diffuse, yet singular and largely dehumanized ideas about Indigenous people, modernity, and decline in cities. This story tells us about ordinary indigeneityin the city of Winnipeg through Sinclair's experience and restores the complex humanity denied him in his interactions with Canadian health and legal systems, both before and after his death.
