Be alert at all times when handling blades
When opening heavy weight cartons use a heavy-duty safety cutter
Pick knives by their handles and always direct sharp points and edges away from you, ensure that the blade is fully retracted until ready for use
Inspect the knife to ensure that there are no cracks in the handle that the blade is not loose
Grip handle and slide blade out about 1 inch. some blades require the user to depress the blade mechanism befor the blade will slide out from its steel shank. If the knofe has a lock feature, secure the knife lock
Keeping your other hand away from thte path of the blade and cut away from you
Retract the blade between uses
Replace/refresh the blade when dull
Do not pick up knives by their blades
Do not use Exacto knives with dull blades
Do not use Exacto knives with broken or loose handles
Do not cut with the blades fully extended
Take knife to workroom for blade replacement. Retrieve the Sharps container from the supply cabinet
Remove handle of the black Exacto knife. Thi handle contains a slit used for snapping the end of the blades
Extend blade until break line appears. Insert blade into slit with point facing upward.
Standing over the worktable, face blade away from your body and snap outward
Retrieve the blade fro the worktable using the magnetic top of the sharps container and dispose of blade in the Sharps container
To unlock casing, turn the black button so that it is horizontal
Open by pulling the casing apart from the blade control track at top of knife
Using great care, remove the from the black plastic and turn it to the unused side. If both sides are now dull, dispose of blade in sharps container and replace the blade. A blade replacement can be found in the handle.
