Accessing Resources

McMaster University clinical faculty and preceptors are eligible to obtain a MAC ID.

If you have a formal appointment with the McMaster University through one of the Faculty of Health Sciences educational programs, schools or departments, contact your program administrator who will facilitate the process of obtaining an employee number and a MAC ID.

For more information, please contact Neera Bhatnagar, Head of Systems & Public Services, Health Sciences Library.

What do I need in order to borrow from HSL?

Your McMaster ID is your library card. The 14-digit barcode number (underneath the black vertical lines) is what you need in order to borrow books and other material.

In order to get a McMaster ID, bring photo ID and your McMaster University employee number to the Campus Store in Gilmour Hall (Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. & 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.) and ask for a "Working at McMaster" card. Your barcode will be printed on the back.

Material not held in the collections of McMaster University Libraries that is needed for study or research by faculty, students, and staff may be requested through Interlibrary Loan (ILL) via the RACER service.  Register for RACER using the following form.
