Learn how to prepare for a one-on-one consultation with a librarian.

Research Consultation Services

Successful research often begins with guidance from a professional librarian.  Librarians ensure you are asking the right questions, searching the right resources, and employing the right search strategies to approach your research with confidence.


Who We Serve

  • Members of the Faculty of Health Sciences community, with priority given to individuals enrolled in educational programs.

What to Expect

  • A scheduled* 30-45 minute meeting with a librarian

The Librarian Will...

  • Recommend databases and grey literature sources
  • Review your search strategy and suggest improvements
  • Teach you strategies for identifying search terms
  • Advise on documenting your search process for publication purposes  

The Librarian Will Not...

 

*Depending on availability, librarians may not be able to accommodate tight deadlines.  Book early!

Research Consultation or Information Desk?

Research Consultations are reserved for those users who have a clear research question in mind and have already completed some initial searching.    

If you haven't reached this point, a librarian at the Information Desk can help:

  • Learn how to use various library resources, tools, and services.
  • Get brief feedback on research ideas or search strategies.
  • Receive immediate assistance (no appointment necessary*).
